PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,762 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (Oct 27), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,890,437 infections since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 2,754 of Thursday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while eight imported infections were logged.
There were 1,271 recoveries on Thursday. This brings the cumulative number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,825,255 since the pandemic began.
The portal also reported that there were 28,720 active cases currently in the country, with 27,503, or 95.8%, observing home quarantine.
The KKMNow portal reported that 1,217 patients, or 4.23% of the total, were currently admitted to hospital for treatment. The number of Covid-19 patients warded at intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country stands at 47, with 30 of these patients requiring ventilation support.
The ICU utilisation rate nationwide stood at 64.1%, with nine states or localities recording ICU usage rates of more than 60%.
Selangor had the highest ICU utilisation rate at 80.3%, followed by Johor (75.9%), Kelantan (74.6%), Kedah (74.4%) Putrajaya (70%), Kuala Lumpur (65.2%), Perak (62.6%), Negri Sembilan (61.2%) and Pahang (60.2%).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that four Covid-19 deaths were reported on Thursday with two classified as Brought in Dead (BID).
This brings the death toll to 36,462.
